I certainly know the rules, but I know there's no rule that says a player can't get better... at least I haven't read that one. That's what I was trying to do and I believe that is important, especially as you get older, in the offseason to try to seek out some things to try to make yourself a better player.
The best thing about Marvin, and it's something I've always had, it's the trait of recall, ... Some guys don't remember last week's plays, much less plays from 1999 or 2000. But Marvin does. He doesn't just remember touchdown passes. He'll remember a 7-yard gain on a third-and-4 against Buffalo a few years back.
There's different things that I've done throughout my career in the offseason that I've sought out someone to talk to, something to study to try to make myself a better quarterback. I believe in this league you either get better or you get worse... you don't stay the same. I know that has gotten a lot of attention, but that is something I've done throughout my career.
Obviously, I have been to Tennessee doing the same thing for the past 16 years. I'll do that, going to make it 17 years in a row, going back to Knoxville. Hopefully that covers me as far as being loyal to my university. Most of the other places, I go just one time. So I've got 17 years at one place, so I think it's pretty clear where my loyalties lie.
This is mostly the fantasy guys asking me that and asking how we're feeling this year. 'How many are you going to throw,' ... You can tell by the tone of their voice if you don't throw over 50, it's going to be a bad season.
You love everything to be perfect, but they made a few plays and we worked through it and got a good win on the road, ... That is what good teams do. The idea was just to take care of business, and we did that.
