I'm really happy for Buddy. I know this has been a tough season for him. He really deserves this.

I put more pressure on myself than anyone else ever could, but I probably want this one a little bit more just because it is closer to home. But, because it's getting towards the end of the season and I'm hoping to have a few good races to close out the season, I really want to do well this weekend. I feel like I'm learning more, that I am better prepared for the events as we go along. I really am looking at these next few events as laying the ground work for next season.

We made a lot of progress from practice this morning. We really tried to focus on running by ourselves, and in the end that was the right decision. It feels great to win to win the pole in Chicago in front of all my friends and family. Three poles in a season is a great accomplishment for any driver. I'm proud that I was able to do it in my rookie year. Since this ties the rookie pole record, you can bet I'll be shooting for my fourth pole.

I mean, you've kind of got the track down, especially with ovals. The only thing that improves is that when race conditions come, you know what to expect slightly more from the track and from your car.

It's tough, though. The IRL public relations people did some research and most rookies don't win their first year.

You know, it's always good to have seen a track before, just to kind of know where the little bumps are here and there, and just the general feel for the size.

To be honest, once you've driven around for about five, 10 laps, you don't notice a difference.

I feel like, sometimes, people, because of the amount of media, because of the amount of attention, people seem to think I have to do things. Like, I have to win right now! But I don't feel like that.

It's just silly because it's so early in the race. Obviously, he was fast. Ryan could have been a lot more patient and had a better opportunity to go out and do the job, be successful and win the race. But his, I don't know what you call it, I don't know if it was overanxious, if it was desperate, if it was a rookie-style mistake that caused it, but he didn't make a very good decision.

Respect is one of those things that you walk a fine line. If you're a pushover, they're just going to think you're a wimp. And if you race them too hard, then you're just an a-hole on the track. You have to race them competitively.

That's not the way I wanted to finish by season. I was on the radio about him all day. He was all over the place.

That's not the way I wanted to finish my season. I was on my radio all day about him. He was all over the track even when he was running by himself. No wonder he jumps around from team to team. Needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated.

Lazier was a problem all day. He's been a problem for years.

The first person I saw after the accident was Jaques and that wasn't a good thing. I confronted him. I told him how I felt. I was mad at him.

I went to adjust my brake bias and I'm pretty sure I knocked the ignition switch off. They are right next to each other. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, and then I looked down to turn it off and it was already off.

You know, I was up there racing with those guys at Chicago, and they're just going to have to tolerate it. I'm just like them -- just trying to win a race or two here ... who knows, maybe that was somebody getting aggravated at me being up there with them, I don't know.

I was really surprised he was fastest. I kept trying to think as qualifying was going on, 'Who was faster than me in practice (Saturday morning)?' Everyone was my answer... But I really didn't think Briscoe was going to do it.

Three poles in a season is a great accomplishment for any driver. Since this ties the rookie pole record, you can bet I'll be shooting for my fourth pole.

The Indy 500 was on (TV) every year and my dad used to watch it. I used to watch the start, maybe, then fall asleep. It was too long.

There are people all over the place. Kids and adults. Men and women. It's been really cool. Having this whole role model thing happen is definitely something that happened a lot quicker than what I thought. It's really easy because it's not trying. I'm not, like, trying to be a role model. I haven't tried to go out of my way to inspire people. When you're real and you're authentic and you try to give honest answers all the time, then it's easy.
