We must ensure that we are prepared for future natural disasters and other potential crises. An effective, operational emergency plan must be in place throughout the commonwealth that incorporates federal assistance to ensure the safety and security of all Virginians.

New laws are now in place to help prevent acts of bioterrorism. Enhanced controls on deadly biological agents have been implemented, as well as protections to ensure the safety of the food we eat and the water we drink.
